MacNN: Apple dodged taxes on $8.9B in Australian profits

When it comes to Apple and headlines, details matter. For the longest time, certain parties in the tech press (and traditional press) have used sensationalistic headlines with Apple in the title to grab page views. Page views = ad revenue, so nobody should be surprised at this tactic.

However, seeing MacNN engage in this behavior is disappointing.

Their headline: ‘Apple dodged taxes on $8.9B in Australian profits

That headline implies that Apple did something illegal and wrong. Both of which are 100% false. MacNN themselves even refute their own headline at the very end of the article!

In the meantime, Cook is legally obligated by a fiduciary duty to shareholders to seek out any tax-avoidance strategies (provided they are legal) as part of his responsibility to maximize profits.

Maybe it’s time I just remove MacNN from my list of feeds to read. Their content has gone to crap, and their mobile presentation of it is atrocious as well.
